Meet Smokey – the grey one, the cuddle lover, the mischief-maker and, quite possibly, the biggest lion fan in the house!
Smokey joined his family at around eight weeks old. Originally, he was named Lola, because everyone thought he was a little girl. It didn’t take long, however, to discover that Lola was actually a boy!
After just four weeks, the family discovered that Smokey’s brother still hadn’t found a home. They couldn’t leave him behind, so they welcomed him into the family too.
From that moment on, the brothers were inseparable. They were always cuddling, always together, and clearly had a very special bond.
Smokey himself was quite the character. He absolutely loved a cuddle, but he also loved making himself heard! He had a personality that filled the house and was guaranteed to make everyone laugh.
He adored the other animals in the household and seemed to appoint himself as the ring leader, always finding some sort of mischief to get involved in.
And then there was his love of television. Not just any television, though – Smokey particularly enjoyed watching the lions!
He was an explorer, a little adventurer, a cuddle bug and a much-loved member of his family.
A cat is never just a cat.
Smokey was a brother, a companion, a source of laughter and a very special part of his family’s world.
His story is being shared as part of Monty’s Law because every cat has a story, and every family deserves to have their experience heard.
We may campaign for a change in the law, but at the heart of everything we do is something much simpler:
Every cat matters. Every family matters. And every story deserves to be heard.
For Smokey. For Monty. For all of our babies. 💙🐾
